Employment Services: Finding a Perfect Fit for Terri

Last spring, Terri Richardson left her job and was actively searching for a new opportunity. After looking on her own for a couple months, she learned about JFS’s Career Launchpad classes from a friend who had recently attended these beneficial virtual classes.

“I was familiar with JFS, as I had donated to the organization and attended annual meetings in the past, but I didn’t know about their employment services.” says Terri. “Through Career Launchpad, I learned how to better market myself using new technologies and the right keywords to find the types of jobs I was seeking.”

In addition to attending virtual classes, Terri worked one-on-one with Heather Seiden, JFS employment program coordinator, to create a résumé and cover letter, search for a job, and prepare for interviews. “Heather was really knowledgeable and able to screen the potential jobs I sent her. I appreciated the customized and targeted approach.”

Terri was interested in an administrative position, preferably at a Jewish organization. Heather had a contact at JEWISHcolorado – someone she had helped get hired there a few years ago – who reached out to see if Heather had any good candidates for their philanthropy coordinator job opening. Heather referred Terri for the job, helped her prepare for the interview, and Terri was hired! She has been working there since September and is loving it.
