Our COVID-19 Response…One Year Later

One year ago, we adapted our programs and services to meet our community’s increasing needs in response to the unprecedented COVID-19 pandemic. Your support enables us to provide vital services to Coloradans facing obstacles they never imagined during this challenging pandemic. JFS continues to meet the escalating needs brought about by this crisis while also examining our role in the recovery.

Here are a few examples of how JFS has responded to the COVID-19 crisis:

A family who received rental assistance

• Providing food security to thousands of families and individuals in crisis. The Weinberg Food Pantry has experienced a 400% increase in pantry clients compared to pre-COVID-19 operations.

• Supplying emergency financial assistance for rent and mortgage payments to prevent families from becoming homeless. We have distributed more than $950,000 to 650 families, and the requests for housing assistance come in daily.

• Offering mental health services for people of all ages and backgrounds struggling with depression, social isolation, and anxiety because of the pandemic.

One of our priorities is to expand employment services, including a new Job Search Accelerator program for individuals who are newly unemployed or have systemic barriers to work. We are dedicated to confronting poverty in our community, including Jewish poverty.
